CALM THE STORM!

WHAT YOU DO: Use a towel and something to represent boats (like sponges or pieces of paper). Pick up the towel and move your arms up and down, slowly at first like the storm is just starting. (Toss the boats onto the towel.) Pretend the storm is getting bigger until you say STOP! Jesus told the storm to stop, and what happened? The storm stopped because Jesus is out-of-this-world amazing!

STORMY WEATHER

WHAT YOU DO: Fill a plastic bin or the bathtub with water and have your children place toys or paper boats in the water. Show them how to make waves with their hands and play with the boats inside. Remind them of how scary a storm like this would have been...but how amazing Jesus is for being able to calm it down.

Draw It Out

Read Proverbs 6:6-8

King Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, tells us in Proverbs to consider the ant’s ways to find wisdom. Get a sheet of paper and draw an ant on it.

As you read Proverbs 6:6-8 again, write down some of the things Solomon mentions about the ant around the one you just drew. Then add to it anything else you know about ants
and their hard work.

Hang your ant drawing somewhere you will see it this week, and start each day “considering the ant and its ways.”

Unscramble the Words

Unscramble the words from today’s verse below.

“Work at _______________________________ you do with ____________ your heart. ____________________ as if you were working for the ____________________ not for human
masters.” Colossians 3:23

At your next family meal, read today’s verse out loud. Ask your parents to give an example of something they’re responsible for that’s not all that fun.

Then ask them the answer the following question: How does this verse help you think about that responsibility in a new way?
