SHINE YOUR LIGHT

WHAT YOU DO: Read the attached game cards one at a time. If what you read is a way we can love like Jesus, have your child make their light shine (either a flashlight or just opening and closing their hands like turning a light on or off). If what you read is not how we love like Jesus, then make sure their light is off. When we love others the way Jesus loves us, we shine our light. That light tells the world that Jesus loves them

GET IN AND DRIVE

WHAT YOU DO: Using materials from around the house, like boxes and flashlights and paper plates, have your child make a car. Tell them that this month, we are talking about how they can "Start your engines, and GO be a light in the world like Jesus!"

You Are Not Alone

Have you ever seen an eagle in flight? It takes quite a bit of energy to flap those large wings. So eagles have figured out how to use thermal updrafts to gain greater altitude which allows them to soar through the sky.

Just as Isaiah tells us, when we’re waiting, God will give us new strength. Think about a majestic eagle soaring through the sky. We can soar right through that waiting when we remember we aren’t really alone. Ask God to remind you He is with you and that He will help you have patience!

Remember God is With You

“Remember God is with you” sounds simple, but it’s easy to forget. One of the best ways to practice this is by intentionally noticing all the ways God is with you. In Simeon’s case, he had the Holy Spirit speaking to him and leading him, and he was able to hold the very Son of God in his arms.

There are ways that God is with you too! Find someone whoalso trusts Jesus—it could be a parent, small group leader, a friend or sibling. Share with each other the ways that you see God is with you—and the ways that you see God at work in each other’s lives as well. Think about everything from the small (He created chocolate!) to the big (He sent Jesus to save you!), and get specific. As you talk, take some notes about what you discover together.
