The First Steps of Faith
If you are new to the journey and your next step is learning about following Jesus for the first time, accepting him, or getting baptized, we are excited for you to lean in.
Heart, Head, and Hands is our approach to growing in Jesus and becoming more like Him. Check out the video to hear from a few of our leaders how these concepts are challenging their journey of faith. After watching this video, click on the Learn More button to personally engage with these concepts.
Because Jesus gave us the ultimate example of sacrificial generosity on the cross, and he told us, “For wherever your riches are, your heart will be there also” (Matthew 6:21 NLT), we strive to follow where he leads. Find out more about ways to lean into giving of your time through serving, and giving financially by contributing to our community and the organizations we support.
Jesus invites us to wholeness, and he doesn’t expect us to get there alone. If your next step is to pursue the health he wants for you through counseling, a support group, or curated resources to help promote mental health, we are here to support you! Whether you are feeling stuck, or you could use additional support, this could be your next step.

Areas of Growth
Heart, Head, and Hands is our approach to growing in Jesus and becoming more like Him. Check out the video to hear from a few of our leaders how these concepts are challenging their journey of faith. You can also personally engage with these concepts by reading through the material below. As you read through the concepts below, consider these questions:
When have you experienced your most meaningful time of growth in these areas?
Which of these do you prioritize above the other two?
Which one are you most interested in growing?
Three AREAS OF GROWTH are Attitude, Perspective, and Motivation. We believe these areas shape our desires.
Loving Jesus shapes our ATTITUDE - “We desire to examine our inner lives, asking the Holy Spirit to identify the barriers that keep us from healthy, loving, and joy-filled relationships with God and others.”
Knowing Jesus shapes our PERSPECTIVE - “We desire to learn about Jesus not only for the sake of knowledge. We study the Bible for the sake of knowing God and His purposes; to fall more deeply in love with Him and to personally engage in His work of restoring all things.”
Following Jesus provides MOTIVATION- “We desire to follow Jesus, who gave his life away for us. We are doing the same; we give our lives away to our family, friends, neighbors, and community for the sake Of Jesus.”
To help us remember these areas, we use three icons: heart, head, and hands.
Loving Jesus (Heart) shapes our attitude, moving us from pride to humility and courage. We do what is right according to Jesus. The environments where BCC emphasizes this area are Community Life groups and Weekend gatherings.
Knowing Jesus (Head) shapes our perspective, moving us from greed to gratitude and generosity. The more we know about Jesus, the more we give our lives away. The environments where this area is most evident are in individual and Group Bible Studies; and Sunday Gatherings.
Following Jesus (Hands) shapes our motivation. Everything we do is in response to Jesus’ love for us and His mission. The environments where BCC emphasizes this are in community life groups and through volunteering and outreach opportunities.
Key Passage (NLT): Luke 10:25-3725 One day an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus by asking him this question: “Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?”26 Jesus replied, “What does the law of Moses say? How do you read it?”27 The man answered, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”[c]28 “Right!” Jesus told him. “Do this and you will live!”29 The man wanted to justify his actions, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”30 Jesus replied with a story: “A Jewish man was traveling from Jerusalem down to Jericho, and he was attacked by bandits. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him up, and left him half dead beside the road.31 “By chance a priest came along. But when he saw the man lying there, he crossed to the other side of the road and passed him by. 32 A Temple assistant[d] walked over and looked at him lying there, but he also passed by on the other side.33 “Then a despised Samaritan came along, and when he saw the man, he felt compassion for him. 34 Going over to him, the Samaritan soothed his wounds with olive oil and wine and bandaged them. Then he put the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn, where he took care of him. 35 The next day he handed the innkeeper two silver coins,[e] telling him, ‘Take care of this man. If his bill runs higher than this, I’ll pay you the next time I’m here.’36 “Now which of these three would you say was a neighbor to the man who was attacked by bandits?” Jesus asked.37 The man replied, “The one who showed him mercy.”Then Jesus said, “Yes, now go and do the same.”
